Impregnated Zeolite as Catalyst in Esterification Treatment from High Free Fatty Acids Palm Oil Mill Effluent

Although Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) can be used as a raw material for biodiesel production, the POME contains an excessive amount of Free Fatty Acids (FFA), necessitating preliminary process and esterification. is degummed using phosphate acid bleached with carbon active. Additionally, this study KOH-impregnated zeolite to reduce FFA. The purpose determine effect adding impregnated on was heated 600C 30 minutes, then degumming 3 % followed by bleaching active comparison ratio 8:3 at 1000C 1 hour, finally, esterification percent from weight 4 hours. analysis conducted titration methods FFA each data will compared between non-zeolite degumming, bleaching, results indicated that most effective method reducing zeolite.
